US Xbox 360 sales fall in December quarter

Xbox 360 still rules the roost in the US, but sales for the December quarter were sharply down year-on-year.

Revenue for Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division – home of Xbox and Windows Phone – was down 11 per cent to $3.8bn with operating income up 15 per cent to $596m.

5.9m Xbox 360 consoles were shipped throughout the period, down significantly from the 8.2m shipped in the same period a year prior. None of which stopped the console standing firm as the best selling in the region.

Microsoft’s overall Q2 revenue climbed three per cent to $21.45bn though net income fell three per cent to $7.77bn.
