Vita external battery pack in the works

Sony has confirmed that it is developing an additional battery pack for PlayStation Vita.

The device will add to the standard battery life, revealed earlier this week to be somewhere between three and five hours – something that has sparked concern amongst avid consumers.

"If you’re flying from New York to San Francisco or vice versa, you’ll have no concerns if you have the additional external battery]," SCEA Worldwide Studios’ president Shuhei Yoshida told IGN.

There is no word yet on how much additional battery time the pack will grant, or whether it will be available at the handheld’s launch.

Sony announced this week that Vita would arrive in Japan on December 17th.
