Voltron game on the way

Publisher THQ has announced that it is to publish a game based on retro kids TV license Voltron: Defender of the Universe.

The series is getting a reboot later this year under the guise Voltron Force, with toy manufacturer Mattel preparing a line of branded toys to coincide with its arrival.

And while THQ’s game will be released alongside this new series it will actually be based on the original TV shows.

"The video games relationship with THQ, along with our master toy relationship with Mattel, signals the exciting future ahead for Voltron," VP of World Events Productions Robert Koplar stated.

"With its signature robot lion action and titanic-scale battles, our Voltron games and toys along with our new series are sure to have enormous appeal to fans of all ages around the world."
