West-Zampella vs Activision delayed

The legal battle between ex-Infinity Ward developers Jason West and Vince Zampella has been delayed until Thursday, three days after the original date of May 29th.

California Superior Court Judge Elihu Berle said the trial was postponed due to trouble assembling a sufficient jury pool.

The firing of the Modern Warfare creators by Activision in 2010 sent shockwaves through the games industry as the pair filed suit for breach of contract, and the drama only intensified as Activision fired back with its own claim.

Both parties seek damages in excess of $1 billion.

Attorneys had requested thirty days to try the case, but the L.A. Times reports that Berle has given them 22, stipulating the trial must be brought to close by July 2.

Discovery has unearthed tales of office spygames and claims of corporate conspiracy, unveiling documents that shed unwelcome light on the business dealings and internal communications of the publisher.

Thousands of pages of evidence have been presented before the court, but perhaps the most important piece is the disputed contract between Activision and Infinity Ward.

Berle has heard arguments pertaining to the contract, and is expected to rule on which parts are indisputable and which are open to interpretation by the end of this week or early next week.
