Wing Commander 3 is currently free on Origin

EA is giving away yet another free game on its digital platform Origin – 1994 space battler Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger.

Originally released for the PC and subsequently the ill-fated 3DO and also the PSOne, the game is perhaps best known for its live action cutscenes – which featured a surpsingly decent cast including Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell and John Rhys-Davies.

It was also designed by Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts which has to date raised $49m in crowdfunding.

The game normally retails for $4.99 but will remain free until September 2nd.

EA has previously given away Battlefield 3, Dead Space and Plants vs Zombies on Origin.
