Witcher 4 is inevitable, Cyberpunk 2077 tipped for 2016 release

Developer CD Projekt has said it would be unfair for the studio not to release a fourth game in the Witcher franchise.

While this year’s big hit The Witcher 3 may have been the end of star Geralt’s story, it’s huge critical and commercial success means it almost certainly won’t be the end of the series.

"It’s too early to talk about it, but it’s not like we’re forgetting about this brand," the studio’s CEO Adam Kicinski said on Polish TV station TVN24 BiS, according to GamePressure. "It wouldn’t be fair towards the fans. We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don’t think it’s going to be the end of it.”

When The Witcher 4 will arrive, however, remains an altogether different matter, and the reason for that may well be fellow CD Projekt title Cyberpunk 2077.

Destructoid has translated a report on German site GameReactor which reckons to have word from a source close to the company” that Cyberpunk 2077 is currently on course for a release in late 2016.

It also adds that development of the title is currently only taking place on PC, meaning the console release – if indeed there is one, although that must almost certainly be the case – could be later.

MCV reported in October that Cyberpunk 2077 will be far, far bigger” than the already huge Witcher 3.
