World Zombination studio nets $6m from Oculus, Riot investors

Mobile studio Proletariat has raised $6m in a Series A funding round, led by Oculus investor Spark Capital.

FirstMark Capital and Atlas Ventures make up the other major investment companies in the round – Firstmark is notable for having backed League of Legends developer Riot Games since the studios’ early days.

I view this $6 million as both freedom and security, for the entire Proletariat team,” Proletariat CEO Seth Sivak said.

This ensures that we can stay independent and have full control of the projects we choose to build. This investment allows us to stay focused on our mission of building the games we care about in an industry that is rapidly shifting.”

Proletariat Inc. formed following the closing of Zynga’s Boston office in 2013. The team released their first title World Zombination on iOS and Android this past December.
