Writer Chet Faliszek departs from Valve

Valve have had another key member leave their team, with writer and VR ambassador Chet Faliszek leaving the company after 12 years.

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, he confirmed his departure, saying "I worked there 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up. There’s no news on what’s next etc, I will let you know when that happens."

Faliszek was responsible for writing a string of hits for the company along with Eric Wolpaw and Mark Laidlaw (both of them left the company last year), including Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, both Left 4 Dead games, both Portal games along with work on CS:GO and Dota 2.

Valve has shifted focus away from game development and more to its Steam market place, with the last game released by the company being The Lab, a collection of VR experiments for the HTC Vive, in 2016.

Even though, according to his LinkedIn profile Valve ‘don’t use [job] titles… because everyone is always changing what they do and internally it is useless’, Faliszek has been known as as VR ambassador, working with developers to publish on Valve’s Vive VR platform.
