Rage pushed back to 2011

The ongoing development of FPS Rage has caused its 2010 release window to slip to 2011 to give id Software extra time to perfect the game.

id Software’s lead designer Tim Willits told VG247: There’s nothing worse than pushing something out before it’s ready.

Trust me, it would be horrible if we were to release it and it was bad. So, we’re going to get the resources that we need and we’re going to get the polish that we need.

There are some graphical things that John Carmack is working through that he’ll get fixed. But the engine’s pretty solid.”

The game was originally picked up by EA in 2008 but will now be published by Bethesda. Developer id Software has vast experience in the FPS genre and has produced franchises including Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein.

Rage will be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, with a Mac version to follow.
