Resident Evil 7 demo outsells PT with 2m downloads

Over two million people downloaded the Resident Evil 7 demo within its first week, beating previous PS4 records.

That includes Konami’s PT, which was the acclaimed ‘playable teaser’ for the since cancelled Silent Hills project. PT was released in 2014 and was downloaded 1m times in a month – although the PS4 install base was considerably smaller back then.

The Resident Evil 7 teaser demo was available to download for free for PS Plus users after the title was unveiled during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference.

Capcom boasts that the demo is ‘now the most downloaded single-player demo on PS4′.

Resident Evil 7 is due on January 24th next year for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with the PS4 version playable in VR.
