Resident Evil TV series in development

A Resident Evil television series based on the film franchise of the same name is being produced, according to a new report.

Variety has confirmation from Constantin Film studio executive Martin Moskowicz that his German production house has taken the reigns on the new series.

Moskowicz states the production company aims to air the show following the release of the next Resident Evil feature film. Filming for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter – the ultimate release in the movie franchise – starts next summer.

The Resident Evil films are loosely based on Capcom’s video game property, and have grossed nearly $1bn since the first release in 2002.
