Respawn’s Zampella founds mobile studio Nuclear Division

Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella has formed a new studio that will will focus on developing games for smartphones and tablets.

Nuclear Division is a joint venture between Zampella – who plans to remain on full-time at Respawn – and Larry Pacey of WMS gaming. Speaking with Venture Beat, Zampella explained his interest in pursuing development on mobile platforms.

It’s a device that I play on because I always have it with me,” Zampella said.

It’s always connected. You’re engaged with it. There’s something you can do with that. I’m not saying one is better than the other, in terms of console versus mobile. It’s a different gaming experience. Both interest me.”

Pacey added that the studio is basing its focus on the "core gamer." The mobile studio is currently working on tools for an unspecified new platform, along with multiple titles to showcase said tools.
