100m sales and counting for Samsung’s Galaxy S series

Samsung has announced that its flagship Galaxy S series has sold more than 100 million units in just over two years.

The announcement was made in typical Samsung fashion, with a photograph depicting staff displaying the record sales figure across a number of Samsung smartphones.

With the Galaxy S3 having average daily sales of 190,000 units, the smartphone has helped drive Samsung to the top of the global smartphone market.

A breakdown shows that the June 2010-launched S has now passed 24m shipments, while the April 2011-released S II has crossed 40m shipments.
