600 GAME, Asda and Tesco stores set for Star Wars Battlefront midnight openings

UK games retail is preparing for the Force of one of this year’s most anticipated shooters.

More than 300 GAME stores will be opening at midnight tonight (November 18th) in time for the launch of Star Wars Battlefront.

The retailer will also be holding a nationwide cosplay competition, as well as screening George Lucas’ iconic films in Hull and playing host to guests stars in Preston.

It will be joined by over 200 Asda stores, which will also offer the game from midnight.

Tesco has also confirmed that some of its outlets will be stocking the title in time for fans to come in red-eyed and humming the Imperial March to work tomorrow morning.

However, not every games shop will be joining in on the Star Wars action.

Indie chain Games Centre has told MCV that its stores would not be opening at midnight.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s has no plans for a midnight opening – despite stocking both the game and its PS4 hardware bundles from normal hours tomorrow.

Although consumers may want to be quick; Sony has announced that the limited edition Darth Vader PS4 SKU has sold out at Amazon, with GAME also close to running empty.
