Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC gets early release

Gearbox has announced that its Mechromancer DLC for Borderlands 2 will arrive a week earlier than expected.

It had originally been scheduled to launch on October 16th.

The download will go live on Xbox 360 and PC this afternoon, though it likely won’t arrive on PSN until Sony’s weekly store update tomorrow afternoon.

The content is free to those who pre-ordered the game and for everyone else will cost either 800 Microsoft Points or 7.99 on PSN/PC.

The Mechromancer is a fifth character option for the game. It garnered a spot of controversy in August when a Gearbox dev described it as Girlfriend Mode”, owing to the fact that it offers inexperienced FPS players an easier in-game experience via the new Best Friends Forever skill tree.
