Choices UK enters administration

There’s more bad news on the High Street today with conformation that Choices UK owner The Webb Group has been entered into administration.

Francis Graham Newton and Paul James Bates of BDO LLP were appointed as joint administrators last Friday.

The Group was the home of nine brands – Choices UK, Goodwill, Love Lavender, 18 Plus, Razamataz Entertainment, Razamataz Books, Simply Entertainment, Simply Sound and BooCA.

It is understood that all staff have been made redundant and that all companies have ceased trading.

Any existing orders will not be honoured, though a separate account has been established from which the administrators hope to be able to issue refunds. However, there is no guarantee that sufficient monies were transferred prior to the chain’s collapse, meaning some consumers might be left out of pocket.

Choices UK first went into administration in August 2007. Though the Webb Group acquired the chain just a week later, it was not able to prevent the closure of 28 UK stores and 240 jobs.
