Coloured PS3 headed to India in March

Coloured PS3 consoles will be available in India by mid-March, Sony has announced.

The announcement was made rather casually on the PlayStation India Facebook page in response to a user query.

News of the coloured PS3s possibly coming to Indiafirst surfaced on the Indian PlayStation website, which was inconclusive since content there is often pulled from the UK website.

Aside from the standard black, three new colours will be introduced – blue, red and white. Unlike the black console, which includes one controller, the coloured PS3 will ship with two Dualshock 3s.

Sony also confirmed in the same Facebook post that India will not receive a God of War: Ascension console bundle.

The new colours will only be available for the 500 GB version and will be priced at Rs 23,490. The standard black PS3 with one controller and three bundled games (Infamous,Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Heavenly Sword)retails for Rs 22,990. No games are being bundled with the coloured console.

While the PlayStation Facebook page has freely announced the news, Sony itself is holding back the official announcement to media for a few more days. Why, is anybody’s guess.
