Comet man joins HMV as tech chief

HMV has recruited Ewan Pinder as head of technology.

Pinder joins from Comet where he was head of merchandising and store development. He boasts over 20 years experience in the electricals industry.

Pinder will report to commercial director Gary Warren and head up of a team consisting of technology manager Ricky Gordon, senior technology buyer Rob Mason and technology buyer Dean Millward.

Technology is one of the key new product categories HMV is hoping to grow to offset declines in the DVD, music and games markets. HMV’s like-for-like technology sales were up 20 per cent in 2010.
