GAME Belong’s Arena Clash tournaments return for second season

GAME has announced a second season for its Belong centres’ Arena Clash tournaments. Taking place in stores nationwide this summer, gamers will compete for a range of prizes in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Overwatch and League of Legends.

Registrations for the second round of Arena Clash open this Friday, June 16th, and qualifiers will take place at the end of the month between June 28th-30th.

Prizes on offer include exclusive tribe jerseys, a prize pool of 7,500, exclusive gaming merchandise and the highly coveted Arena Clash trophy.

From the number of participating stores to the available games and prize pool, GAME’s second season of Arena Clash is a huge expansion over the retailer’s first season, which ran in March earlier this year over a period of five weeks.

In Arena Clash’s first season, just five of its Belong Arenas participated in the tournament: Bristol, Gateshead, Hull, Manchester and Portsmouth. Sponsored by Activision, the competition saw players compete on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare only, with a prize pool of 1,000 up for grabs.

At the time, GAME’s SVP of eSports and competitive gaming strategy Craig Fletcher said the tournament "gives the first taste of what’s to come for our eSports activity, which will focus on our commitment to grassroots gaming and discovering and supporting the very best talent from across the UK’s thriving eSports scene."

MCV recently spoke to GAME CEO Martyn Gibbs about the future of the retailer’s Belong arenas, which have also just recently begun offering private hire deals for birthdays, events and corporate parties.
