GAME boss reveals acquisition checklist

If you’re a specialist retailer with between 20 and 25 stores, you might just be on GAME Group CEO Lisa Morgan’s shopping list this year.

That’s according to an interview with the firm’s boss on financial news site Cantos, in which she was asked: Let’s look at your strategy on acquisitions. Given cyclical market pricing threats, is now really the right time?”

Morgan replied: It’s not really a matter of timing, it’s a more a matter of opportunity. Our strategy hasn’t changed.

We look for a specialist opportunity where we have good local management, ideally, 20 to 25 stores, a marketplace that we see potential in, and then we can work with the teams and develop the opportunity.”

Morgan was speaking after GAME’s stunning full year fiscal results this morning, which revealed a like-for-like sales jump of over 40 per cent.
