Hasbro is being sued by Peak Games over a My Little Pony game

Turkish developer Peak Games is suing Hasbro as they claim that the recent My Little Pony: Puzzle Party game copies their game Toy Blast.

According to VentureBeat, Peak Games filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco and have alleged that Hasbro’s Backflip Studios have taken their game Toy Blast, thrown a My Little Pony skin over the top and published it.

The legal documents go on to show multiple screenshots showing the original Toy Blast design, and then near identical screens from My Little Pony: Puzzle Party. It would appear that Peak Games has a strong case based on this evidence.

My Little Pony: Puzzle Party launched a few weeks back on October 13th, while Toy Blast has been around since August 2015.

Peak Games has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Hasbro and Backflip Studios for taking Peak’s popular game, Toy Blast, cloning it, and cloaking it under the My Little Pony brand,” said Jennifer Kelly, the Fenwick & West partner who is representing Peak Games in the case. When the game was released last week, it was immediately obvious to all of us that this was just a reskin of Toy Blast. This was only confirmed as we looked at the game more deeply in the subsequent days.”
