HMV announces its own midnight openings for Battlefield 3

UK entertainment retailer HMV has announced that 50 of its stores will open their doors at midnight for the release of Battlefield 3 in the early hours of Friday morning.

A main event will take place at HMV’s Oxford Street store, though there will also be big events Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Reading and Southampton.

Punters will also get the chance to grab one of a limited number of HMV exclusive steel book editions.

"We’ve seen a great run of releases lately, which gets everyone, not least hardcore gamer fans, really excited and into stores,” HMV’s head of games Tim Ellis stated.

Midnight openings can certainly play their part in helping to generate that special sense of anticipation and momentum around a key new title."
