HMV restructures Head Office team

HMV has made a number of key changes to its Head Office team.

The moves are designed to boost the firm’s online and digital business, as well as grow new categories such as technology.

Commercial director Steve Napleton (pictured right) will now focus exclusively on developing the retailer’s e-commerce, digital and ticketing business across all product categories.

Meanwhile, Gary Warren (pictured left) – who was the MD of content and talent at the HMV-owned MAMA Group – has returned to HMV to head up the product teams once again. He will handle sales through HMV’s UK and Ireland store base. He will work on new product ranges as well as established categories.

These appointments are part of a wider review of HMV’s management team. A number of other changes to the Head Office staff will be revealed in the weeks to come.

The news follows HMV’s trading statement last week, which revealed a slower year-on-year Christmas performance. The firm plans to close 40 HMV and 20 Waterstones stores in the UK by 2012.
