HMV website impresses in latest online retail listings

National entertainment retailer HMV is the star games performer in a new comparison of the nation’s leading retail websites, according to survey conductor The Retail Bulletin.

HMV was one of the star performers, with the technical performance and functionality improvements seen on its website seeing it jump 49 places to become the UK’s 25th ranking retail portal.

Play.com also saw its position improve 17 places as it jumped to 61st, though the popular portal was criticised for some potentially serious code issues. Leading games retailer GAME held firm in 91st spot.

Other notable games retailers in the listing include Tesco Direct (17th), Argos (18th), Comet (40th), iTunes (42nd), John Lewis (47th), Currys (63rd), Asda (76th), Dixons (78th), Toys R Us (85th), PC World (93rd), Amazon (101st) and WH Smith (104th).
