India games chain to open 150 stores

An Indian games retailer hopes to have over 150 outlets in operation by 2015.

Games The Shop, which currently has seven stores, also says it has the potential to expand its chain globally.

India is a vast country – it has a scope for much more than 150 stores,” Games The Shop director Mr Amit Khemani told MCV.

Currently our focus is India. However we are open to exploring opportunities as they come.We see Games The Shop having four flagship stores that will also work as a hangout where youth can play multiplayer games.

In due course, we will start services like e-commerce, used games and CD repair.”

The chain was recently awarded The Economic Times’ Retail Idea of the Year award, in association with the Retail Association of India (RAI).

Two-year-old Games The Shop is owned by sales, distribution and marketing firm E-xpress Interactive Software, which was set up 12 years ago.
