LEGO Marvel Avengers won’t arrive until 2016

Warner Bros has finally confirmed a release date for LEGO Marvel Avengers.

It won’t be here this side of Christmas, however – the game is now set to hit retail on January 29th 2016.

No official reason has been given for the pushing back of the game, although the late September arrival of LEGO Dimensions and its numerous expansions is almost certainly the cause. Note that Dimensions stars a number of DC characters.

The game was announced back in January. It had originally been pitched as a tie-in to Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that movie was released back in April. The game will cover the events of both that film and its predecessor, The Avengers, which was released in 2012.

There has already been one Marvel-inspired LEGO game – 2012’s LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, although this did not directly tie in to any existing movie.
