Martyn Gibbs is new GAME CEO

Martyn Gibbs has returned to GAME as the firm’s new CEO.

Gibbs is a popular figure in the trade. He was MD of Gamestation when GAME swooped for the chain in 2007. He has been a key voice at the firm, even announcing the upcoming Gamefest at last year’s video game BAFTAs.

He has also previously worked as head of games at HMV and at WH Smith.

He left GAME Group in the middle of last year.

His appointment follows the acquisition of GAME by OpCapita yesterday.

Meanwhile, GAME has confirmed that that the former joint COO of Dixons, David Hamid, will become GAME’s new executive chairman – as reported by MCV yesterday.

I am delighted to be leading GAME back to success. Our immediate priority is to help the GAME and Gamestation teams, so they can give our customers a great Easter in our stores and websites,” said Gibbs.
