Moorfields confirms Blockbuster closure

As was exclusively revealed by MCV yesterday, all remaining Blockbuster stores will close next week.

That means the closure of 91 stores and the loss of 808 jobs, with the last doors to be shut on Monday December 16th.

All remaining stock will be sold off at a significant discount between now and Sunday December 15th.

It is with regret that we have to make today’s announcement,” joint administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O’Reilly said. We appreciate this is a difficult time for all concerned and would like to thank staff for their professionalism and support over the past month.

Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a buyer for the group as a going concern and as a result had to take the regrettable action to close the remaining stores.”
