New PS3 features blocked from non-subscribers

Sony has for the first time blocked non PlayStation Plus users from accessing some features found in the latest PS3 firmware update.

The update offers both automated Trophy syncing – currently Trophies have to be synced manually – and the ability to automatically have game saves transferred to the cloud.

Previously Sony has only ever restricted downloadable content to PlayStation Plus members.

Other new features open to all include a new PlayStation Store content recommendation system and additional streaming media support.

3D has also been boosted, with 3D Java content on Blu-ray discs now accessible and 3D digital photo support.

The patch will be available soon.
