Software Sales Monitor: Market falls to £26.3m

It’s the post-FIFA blues this week, with unit sales falling 43 per cent to 887,494 and the market value plunging further, down 51 per cent to 26.3m week-on-week.

It’s an expected drop, but was perhaps a little steeper than retail would have hoped – it’s a bigger drop than the dip suffered during the post-FIFA week last year.

Alongside FIFA 12, the other big sellers this week were all-new IP, with Bethesda’s Rage reaching No.2 and Namco Bandai’s Dark Souls making third spot in the Chart-Track Top 40.

Next week’s data should make for more pleasant reading, with Just Dance 3, Forza 4, PES 2012, Ace Combat, WRC 2011 and Skylanders all on retailer’s shelves.
