‘Solid sales’ for MGS5: Ground Zeroes can’t stop Konami sales drop

Konami has reported a 37 per cent decrease in video game sales for the year ending March 31st.

That represents 10.8m unit sales, resulting in net revenue of Y218bn, operating income of Y10.3bn and net profit of Y6.2bn – nearly half the Y13.2bn profit that was reported the year before.

Konami’s Digital Entertainment business saw net revenue of Y104.3bn and Y11.7bn in operating income.

Sales of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes were described as solid” although the publisher didn’t expand on the 1m shipped figure announced late last month. Total Metal Gear Solid sales for the period reached 3.37m units, but that includes all back catalogue titles and the PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

PS3 accounted for 49 per cent of sales, PS$ eight per cent and Xbox One three per cent.
