Tate Britain recognises video games

An event called Late at Tate Britain: Game Play this Friday will showcase a number of key video games as the art of gaming – both digital and otherwise – takes place at the London cultural hub.

A selection of titles – chosen by none other than One Life Left team members Simon Byron and Ste Curran – will be on hand for attendees to sample.

Included are PSN’s beautiful and serene outing Flower, trippy action classic Rez HD, current chart-topper Heavy Rain and Activision’s DJ Hero.

There will also be representation from Rising Star’s Samurai Shodown Sen and Curran’s own XBLA charity hit Chime.

From 19:30 a talk entitled ‘Video Games: design, narrative, gameplay’ will examine the relationship between design, narrative and gameplay in modern titles. Hosted by Curran, panellists will include writer Charles Cecil, Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons and journalist Kieron Gillen.

Late at Tate Britain: Game Play will take place on the evening of Friday March 5th. Entry is free and it kicks off at 18:00. Tickets for the talk will be sold on the night on a first-come first-served basis.
