There’s life after GAME

An ambitious ex-GAME employee has big things planned for her local area and plans to open her own store.

Vicki Life lost her job last month as store manager for the Welwyn Garden City branch. The shop was one of 277 which closed after GAME Group went into administration.

Now she wants to breathe new life into the area with her own independent retailer – Life After Game – to rival the local Gamestation.

Welwyn Garden City desperately needs a games retailer,” she told MCV.

There’s only Gamestation in town now, then it’s either supermarkets or HMV in Hatfield. Our GAME drew customers from Harpenden, St Albans and more, and now their choice is limited. What differentiated us was the service – something I believe games retail is all about.

We’re are going to show that it was a mistake to close GAME Welwyn Garden City. The opportunity there is too good to miss.”

Vicki Life was employed by GAME for almost two years. She previously worked at the Zavvi/Virgin store in Hemel Hempstead.

Life After Game is a plan to bring gaming in Welwyn Garden City or Hatfieldto the next level,” she added. If you think about somewhere you can go, play new games, socialise with like-minded people, then order them, that’s what Life After Game is looking to provide.”
