UPDATE: GAME.co.uk "down for maintenance"

The websites for both GAME and Gamestation have this morning been taken down.

GAME.co.uk is down for maintenance,” a message on the site currently reads. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to be back up and running very soon. If you require assistance with an existing order our customer service team are happy to help you.”

In line with the company’s brand strategy, Gamestation’s website carries a slightly chirpier message: Gamestation.co.uk has been taken offline for scheduled maintenance. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but hope you enjoy the extra gaming time!”

MCV is attempting to clarify whether maintenance” really is to blame or whether this is the first sign of bigger news to come.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for GAME has told MCV that it is just a fault, and that "the web service will resume imminently"
