US: GameStop launches DS reservation scheme

DS stock seems to be a festive issue in North America – GameStop has launched a program allowing consumers to reserve a Nintendo DS and have it delivered to them within a month.

Reservations must be made in person at any US GameStop store. Consumers must make pay the full price of $129.99 plus tax when making their reservation and GameStop are estimating deliveries will be made between December 28th and January 15th.

The scheme has been designed to help customers attempting to get the highly sought-after handheld for Christmas, and focuses on the metallic rose, cobalt/black and crimson/black versions of the console.

Customers ordering a DS to give as a present will receive a GameStop and Nintendo-branded gift card tin to ensure the recipient has a gift to open. When their DS arrives, the person that made the reservation will receive a call, indicating the system is ready for collection.
