US: Ghostbusters grabs Google search gong

Search engine leader Google has published its Zeitgeist 2009 report – which lists the Top Ten searches in North America across a number of popular entertainment sectors over the last year – and Atari’s Ghostbusters has emerged as the winner.

Google’s report is compiled from the billions of queries people typed into Google search this year.

Other high-fliers included THQ fighter UFC, Konami’s movie tie-in Saw, Activision’s kid’s licence Bakugan and Eidos’ critical and commercial hit Batman: Arkham Asylum.

In fact, the only non-licensed titles in the list were Activision’s Modern Warfare and Capcom’s Resident Evil 5.

Here are the Top Ten video games searches in full:
1. Ghostbuster
2. UFC
3. Saw
4. Bakugan
5. Batman Arkham Asylum
6. Twilight
7. FIFA 2010
8. Modern Warfare
9. Transformers 2
10. Resident Evil 5
