Rumour: Google developing Android-powered console and wristwatch

Google is reportedly readying itself for an entrance into the games hardware market.

Anonymous sources familiar with the matter” have told The Wall Street Journal that Google is working on an Android-based video game console and wristwatch.

The company intends to design and market the devices in-house, along the Nexus Q media center, and have one of them hit the market by this fall.

The sources also stated that the hardware is designed to rival similar unannounced products that are supposedly in development at Apple.

Other aims for the offerings are reportedly to stay ahead of the curve, as well as increase Google’s hardware presence beyond the smartphone and tablet market.

Google has stayed tight-lipped in regards to the report thus far, but certainly there should be something official soon – if the fall date is indeed accurate.
