Second Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter seems doomed

Precursor Games’ second attempt at funding Shadow of the Eternals appears to be on the brink of failure.

At the time of writing its Kickstarter campaign stands at $305,306 with just 38 hours remaining – that’s nearly $450,000 short of its $750,000 funding goal.

Its first Kickstarter attempt, which itself came after the studio had already tried to crowdfund independently, was cancelled after Precursor raised just $128k of its lofty $1.35m goal.

The project had before then been enveloped with problems, with questions being asked of its T&Cs and controversial co-developer Denis Dyack releasing a video in which he directly attacked the press and its coverage of both his new studio and the game itself.

The second Kickstarter was then launched at the end of June with a target of just $750k – that’s half the size of the original goal.

Will Dyack and Precursor attempt to fund the game for a third time? Don’t rule it out.
