SONY: LittleBigPlanet 2 takes to the stage

Some impressive examples of the versatile creation engine that powers LittleBigPlanet 2 has been shown off to the crowd at Sont’s E3 showcase in LA.

Whereas the first game allowed users to create an assortment of platform levels, LBP2 allows for the creation of a wide variety of game types. Examples included duelling arena title Crashy Crash, a fast-paced mini-game called Super Block Race and Rocket Arena which was more than a little reminiscent of Nitnendo’s Super Smash Bros.

We’re staying true to the ethos of play create share but also expanding all of these areas,” Media Molecule’s Alex Evans pledged.

The demo closed with a showreel of titles created by designers who had been invited to Media Molecule’s office for the day. The range was impressive, including top down racers, 2D shooters, an RTS and a variety of platforming designs.

The LittleBigPlanet2 the breadth and possibilities are endless. You can really make any kind of game you can imagine,” Evans promised.
