SONY: Phaser controller for Star Trek game

Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions have teamed up with Sony to deliver PS3 fans with a special Phaser controller and exclusive downloadable game.

During Sony’s E3 press conference, SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton announced that next year’s Star Trek title – which MCV reported on last week – will be fully compatible with PlayStation Move.

Not only that, but Paramount will also be releasing a new version of the Move controller, modelled on the classic Star Trek phaser – an announcement that triggered several Trekkie whoops during the conference.

Additionally, PS3 owners will be able to download an exclusive prequel title that depicts the events leading up to the main Trek game.

Both the retail and digital game will be released around the debut of the next Star Trek film, which is due in summer 2012.
