SONY: Ruin links Vita with PS3

Upcoming PlayStation Vita title Ruin will be the first game to offer a seamless gameplay connection between the new handheld and PS3.

Described by Sony as a social action RPG”, the title is constantly connected to PSN, allowing gamers to engage with other Vita owners as they play.

A cloud saving feature means that, at any point, players can switch between Ruin on Vita and the PlayStation 3 SKU that will be launched alongside it. Once on the console version, the action picks up exactly where it left off on the handheld game.

In addition to standard dungeon crawling, Ruin features a player lair system: a dungeon that gamers can customise to trap other players and rivals. They can then invade other users’ lairs, and real-time updates allows them to quickly return to their own dungeon and defend it from invasion.

Players will also be able to share their progress with rivals and friends via PSN, Facebook and Sony’s own community website.

Ruin is an impactful combat RPG,” said Sony San Diego Studios’ Travis Williams. You’ll forge strong bonds of friendship or rivalry with other players, and you can take this game wherever you go – including your living room.”
