Square Enix throws weight behind fan-made ‘Revision’ mod for original Deus Ex

The Steam edition of the original Deus Ex has received a facelift thanks to the fan-developed Revision mod, and Square Enix is surprisingly in full support of the release.

Instead of the standard cease and desist letter one might expect, the development team received the backing of Square Enix’s marketing team – including an official announcement for the content and sale on the base game.

Developed by Caustic Creative, Revision is described as an augmentation” mod for the 2000 PC release – revamping the game’s environments and soundtrack, as well as expanding certain aspects” of the game.

Owners of the game can download the mod for free via its Steam page. Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition is required to run Revision, the title is currently priced at $7 on Valve’s distribution service.
