Stalker 2 cancelled as GSC closes doors

GSC, the development studio behind the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, has announced its closure; and with it the cancellation of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

The would-be latest title in the FPS RPG franchise was reportedly heading toward the fate back in March with the studio’s impending closure, but at the time GSC wasn’t ready to give up on it.

For now the matter is closed, there will be no S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, or if there is it won’t be developed by GSC.

The team itself has opened Vostok Games, a new studio currently developing a free to play MMO FPS entitled ‘Survarium’ and set in the iconic ‘Zone’ of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

"The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we’ve been working on for the last ten years," shared project lead Ruslan Didenko.

"Survarium will go way further forcing mankind to fight for survival not only within the closed area of Chernobyl zone, but also far beyond."
