Star Trek Online back in business?

It seems that there’s life left yet in the dilithium crystals of the once dead MMORPG Star Trek Online, with a

online suggesting that more news on the troubled project is on the way.

It was reported in January that former developer Perpetual Entertainment had walked away from the project.

It’s not known who is now at the helm, though rumours point to City of Heroes and City of Villains developer Cryptic.

The huge appeal of the Star Trek licence, coupled with the techno-friendly inklings of its target audience, makes the Gene Roddenberry universe an obvious choice for the MMO treatment.

However, the same could be said for Star Wars – and that project has faced a succession of problems.
