Star Wars: Battlefront 2 due in 2017, Visceral’s Star Wars game in 2018

EA has said that a sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront will be released in 2017.

Its enthusiasm is undoubtedly buoyed by the success of the first game, which in EA’s last financial year (ending March 31st) saw 14m copies shipped.

That’s well ahead of the 13m EA forecast back in October, and that number itself was an upwardly revised prediction from its initial 9-10m estimate.

The publisher has also said that the mystery Star Wars title in development at Visceral, is likely” to be released in 2018.

As for Battlefront 2, players can also expect that to feature locations, vehicles and heroes from last year’s movie The Force Awakens.

"We’ll most likely have at least one Star Wars title a year over the next three or four years," EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said. "Next year we will see Star Wars: Battlefront back with bigger and better worlds because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before."
