Starbreeze pledges a further two year’s support for Payday 2

Both free and paid updates will continue to be delivered to online shooter Payday 2 for a further two years.

That’s as a result of the recent deal that saw 505 Games parent Digital Bros acquire a stake in Payday developer Starbreeze, part of which saw around $15m invested directly into the franchise and 505 acquire the publishing rights through to the year 2032.

We are very excited about this,” Starbreeze studio Overkill said. We love working on Payday 2 and look forward taking care of our game for two more years, making new free updates, paid DLC’s and awesome campaigns together with the community. Thanks to [505], we can continue focusing on making Payday 2 better and better.

On behalf of the rest of the crew, thank you everyone for your support through the years! We wouldn’t be where we are without you guys! We will honour your support by continue supporting Payday 2 for two more years.”

A new PS4 and Xbox One version of the game, entitled Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, is due for release in June.
