Stringer: PlayStation profitability is key for Sony Corp.

Sony Corp. chairman Howard Stringer has said the company’s top management priority is to restore profitability in our television and game businesses.”

Stringer made the comment at Sony’s annual shareholder meeting in Tokyo yesterday.

Last month, Sony predicted its games division is set to its first annual profit in three years after reducing the cost of manufacturing PlayStation 3s.

According to Bloomberg, the PlayStation division lost $3.4 billion in the past two years under Stringer.
