Take-Two stands firm on pricing; Borderlands 2 remains Rs 2,499

While game prices are going up all around, Take-Two has stood firm to retain the Rs 2,499 price for its upcoming release Borderlands 2.

The Rs 2,499 price point has been the industry standard for console games in India this generation, but prices have been going up of late.

The current economic environment that has seen the value of the Rupee plummet, along with some changes in India’s import and customs duty structure, has resulted in several publishers increasing game prices in India close to or even above the Rs 3,000 mark.

Take-Two had also maintained the Rs 2,499 price for its previous release, Rockstar’s Max Payne 3, and it now remains the only company to continue at that price point for new AAA releases.

Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release on 21st September for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version will retail for Rs 999.
