Telegraph predicts £260 PS3 Slim

Sony will release the long-rumoured PS3 Slim later this year in the UK priced at 260, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.

That will be for the 40GB model, the paper claims. It adds that Sony is also prepping an 80GB SKU which will retail for more.

It’s all speculation at the moment and comes just days after Amazon Germany appeared to list a ‘PlayStation 3 Konsole Slim‘ on its site, though closer investigation showed that this was a user-generated listing and not one from the etailer itself.

The Telegraph’s prediction is fuelled partly by claims that Sony has ordered enough parts to manufacture one million PS3 consoles this Q3 – twice as many as it did in Q2. Though perhaps this is not surprising considering the normal sales uplift enjoyed by the industry in Q3 and, in particular, Q4.

Many commentators are expecting an announcement relating to a PS3 redesign at Gamescom later this month. Sony’s keynote at the Cologne event is scheduled to last three hours.
