Third outing for Capcom’s Lost Planet incoming

Capcom has seemingly announced Lost Planet 3 a little earlier than expected.

A video confirming the title was posted to YouTube before subsequently being pulled ahead of what is expected to be an official announcement later today..

Developer Spark Unlimited has supposedly been tasked with crafting the game. Its last titles were Namco Bandai’s heavily-criticised Legendary: The Box and Codemasters flop Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.

The first Lost Planet was an early Xbox 360 exclusive that was fairly well received by critics. Its successor, released in late 2010, was less well received, however.

Both of these titles were developed internally by Capcom. If Spark is indeed to develop this new game it continues Capcom’s recent tradition of farming out Eastern IP to Western studios.

Other games to undergo the same process include Bionic Commando, Devil May Cry, Dead Rising 2 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Lost Planet 3 is due out on PS3 and Xbox 60 in 2013.
